Feminine Details

                                                                 Hello everyone,

It is still very cold here but in a couple more days it is supposed to be back to normal winter temperatures. I love how the days are getting longer though and the sun always seems warmer by February.
The theme for the day is soft and feminine details. I love this vintage soft pink hat above-reminds me of a pretty wedding cake.
The soft dusty pink vase with  a pretty necklace holds a bouquet of cream roses.

Little ballet slippers with creamy roses.
Playing in photoshop with a vintage layer for a soft and dreamy look.
                                                   A basket full of posies.
A pretty hat, sheer gloves, pearls and an old beaded purse-I'm ready for afternoon tea are you?
I hope these pretty feminine details warm your heart a little on this cold ,frosty day!

Soft & Pretty Collages

                                                              Hello everyone,
We are having some very cold weather here right now so I stayed close to the fireside all day. After baking some scones and buttermilk biscuits to go with our homemade veggie soup I spent some time on photo shop trying to learn a few new things.
I didn't take time to take any new photos today, so I hope you don't mind seeing some of my collages from the past..
I have a few thousand collages stored on my computer with an external hard drive. A few weeks ago thousands of my photos started being deleted overnight on my computer.  It was a very sickening feeling to see them disappear.
Lucky for me I have a son in law who is very knowledgeable on these things . It turned out my external hard drive was fried but he was able to retrieve the photos somehow and put them on a new external hard drive.
He has also backed up a copy for me on his computer so that if mine should fail again I can have them restored again. I mention this as a reminder to make sure you back up your photos regularly so that you won't lose your pics in case of a computer failure.
                                                        Clematis and teacups
                                                    Soft and pretty.
This was one of my favorite still life photo shoots last year.
                                                The cutest little wellies ever!
                                                 Pretty pastel tea cups.
                                                  Love these little fairies!
Well, if you are having a cold snap like us here on Prince Edward Island , I hope you can stay warm and cosy indoors. Hopefully our garden has enough of a snow cover to survive these temperatures.I know most of our plants are hardy to these temps but it is always tempting to try a few less hardy roses etc. on the chance we have a mild winter, like the past couple have been.
You southerners would shiver at our late fall temperatures let alone winter! We are a hardy bunch here though and just dress warm and carry on!!!

Thank you for your visit,
Carolyn

Tulips & Such

Hello everyone,
On these cold wintry days it is so nice to enjoy some of the pleasures of spring with bouquets of tulips etc. The beautiful tulips above were a gift from a sweet new friend.

You might notice my Christmas plaids have been changed to red & white toile in our bedroom.

I love this teapot with the little bird on top with the white tulips.

They did make the rounds-my lovely bouquet! (Thank you,Snow!)

I am off to Summerside with my daughter and Lucas for a few hours this morning so I better bundle up and be off!

Thank you for visiting,

Old English Fidget Pie & Scones

                                                            Hello everyone!

Hope you all had a good weekend and you are looking forward to a brand new week. I haven't shared any recipes with you for awhile-not that I am the best cook, but I always enjoy making English Fidget pie on a crisp winter day.It makes the house smell so good while it is baking.
I got this recipe out of an old Victoria magazine.
Some ingredients- I had leftover cooked ham from a previous meal.
I make my own pie crust but you may want to use a frozen one.
                                                  All set for the oven.
This is a nice comfort food recipe-not fancy but tasty!
                                                  The recipe
While the oven is hot you might as well make a quick batch of scones-always a hit here. You can use either raisins or dried cranberries.

This recipe is from a Robin Hood Baking cookbook that I love.

Well, the fidget pie is all gone but the tea is on and there are still some warm out of the oven scones!

I am joining Rose Chintz Cottage for Tea Time Tuesday.

  Hope you enjoy!

Beautiful Weekend Bouquets

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.I enjoyed some time out with two of my girls today- a lovely lunch and a peek around some shops in town.

In the winter I love to buy some flowers for bouquets around the house.
I splurged a bit this week as we had a family dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday.
                                                  I like the vintage look.
Bouquets really dress up the table.

Carnations, roses and tulips make me happy!

I love my aqua tub that I found at a local thrift shop for $3. I know I will find lots of uses for it.
Of course, I enjoyed taking photos of them too!
We have had some cold weather the past few days but I heard we might get showers tomorrow with milder temps. I am looking forward to some good skating weather as I have my heart set on a family skate on our pond sometime soon -but I must be patient!
