In a Golden Light

Hello everyone,
We finally had a sunny day today so I got busy with my camera and took some pictures. It has been so dull lately that it was hard to get good light in the house.
I love the golden glow in our bedroom when the sunlight is streaming in.

I did a little decorating for Christmas in our bedroom. Village houses on the mantel etc.
The little lights around the bed add a warm cozy look at night.

I made the pillows for our bed.

Well, I did enjoy a sunny day and a beautiful sunset this evening but I am still hoping for some snow soon, We are having our annual Christmas party for our family this weekend. The" little ones' (nine grandchildren) each get a gift which they open and then we all have pizza and dessert. It is a lively casual evening and always lots of  fun !
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy all the joy of the season!

Thank you for visiting,

A Fireside Tea

Good evening,
I have been a bit absent lately as there is lots to do right now but I am sure you will forgive me because you have probably been too busy to notice! I hope you are all enjoying all the hustle and bustle???
Anyway, I hope you will enjoy slowing down for a bit and joining me for a fireside tea.

It is lovely to enjoy a cup of tea by the fireside on a long winter's night.

I have some Christmas goodies for us too.
I have the mantel decorated mainly with fresh greenery and winterberries.

So romantic!

Well, I hope you don't have to rush off because I am enjoying your company and there is lots more tea!

I am joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday again- there is lots to enjoy there!

Thank you for joining me for tea!

A Baking Day Tea

Hello everyone,
It is another mild and very dull and very wet day here again today. What is going on- so many of you even down south have snow and we who are usually in the grip of winter are having what seems like spring. I know many here are loving it but it does not seem like Christmas until we snow. I will confess though it is easier to drive in and easy to heat our big old farmhouse!
Anyway, after coming home from a friends beautiful home where I was invited for tea , I thought it would be a great day to do some Christmas baking.

Every year since we have had children I have made dozens of gingerbread cookies.
So, it is one of the traditions I enjoy even though my babies have all grown up and no longer crowd around to help cut them out. However, one of my girls did stop in and helped with the cutting etc. while we chatted.
I am so glad we still have' little ones' (grandchildren) to enjoy the gingerbread cookies.
I made a couple of sticky date puddings for Christmas day too as I have had a couple of requests for it this year. The recipe is here if you would like it.
It was so dull today that candles made the kitchen look cozy.
This is a Victoria Christmas book and the photo isn't clear but it has gingerbread cookies on a platter and was my souse of inspiration today.

The Victoria Heart of Christmas book.
So after doing some baking it is always lovely to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and sample a little of my baking just to make sure it is good to serve-you understand!!!

I love the smell of Christmas baking in a warm cozy kitchen with Christmas music playing- even if we don't have snow and you all do!

Today, I am joining Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage for her lovely Tea Time Tuesday and also Kathy at a Delightsome Life for the Victoria Return to Lovliness party.

Thank you for stopping in,

Carolyn

Christmas Mosaics

Hello everyone,
I hope you enjoyed a lovely weekend. We had a little birthday party for my Mom on Friday, and Andrew and I went to a Christmas Carol concert in the evening.  On Saturday I enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch at a local restaurant with my girls  and our daughter and family came for lunch on Sunday so the weekend zipped by! We are still have very mild weather (for Canada), it is 10 degrees Celsuis so needless to say not a speck of snow. I hope we get some soon as it does not look like Christmas here without snow.

I have made a few mosaics from little Christmas touches around our home.
The picture above is a Trisha Romance card that I framed. I love her work!
The mosaic above is from last year.

I am still doing little Christmas touches around the house- I know I am slow this year! We are getting our tree tomorrow so it will go up on Wednesday hopefully.

I am joining in with Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show off your Cottage Monday and also joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday .

Thank you for visiting me,

Carolyn

Take a break!

Hello everyone,
I thought with all the hustle and bustle you might want to stop and relax for a bit in our little sunroom which was bright and cheery today with the sun shining.

You might already know that I love this wooden angel.

I made a treat for you -it is delicious and so easy to make. Actually it is even good for you. It is peppermint chocolate Vitasoy organic  beverage. It is delicious hot or cold and a little whipped cream and cinnamon makes it all the better for a little afternoon treat.
I made some sugar cookies for you too!
You are surrounded by nature.
even reindeer.

A santa wreath

Some fresh pine and rosehips

I know ,I know enough already!

I love this iron sheep too.

A collage for you.

Above is a photo from my Christmas Past & Present blog if you would like to visit just click here.

I hope you enjoyed a little break- I know I did!

Thank you for visiting and for all your kind words.

Take care,

Carolyn
